What Is The Factory?

The Factory is Liana Banyan’s decentralized manufacturing pipeline. Instead of one central factory, we have a network of manufacturing “nodes” — makers with 3D printers, injection molding machines, CNC routers, and other equipment — who compete for bounties to produce physical products.

Every step in the manufacturing process is a bounty. Every bounty pays in Credits, Marks, or Joules. Every creator keeps 83.3% of their product sales.

The Pipeline

IDEA → PROTOTYPE → VOTE → PRODUCE → SHIP → DELIVER

Stage 1: Idea Upload

1. Creator uploads CAD file, sketch, or description
2. System timestamps the innovation (IP protection)
3. A “Blueprint Scroll” is created — a visual map of the product’s journey

Stage 2: Prototyping

1. Creator publishes a “Hire Bounty” for prototyping
2. Makers with 3D printers claim the bounty
3. Prototype is produced under contract
4. Engineering refinement bounties posted for improvements

Stage 3: Voting

1. Product appears on the Marketplace voting page
2. Members vote with their interest
3. Pre-orders open via the Tab System
4. Production quantity is determined by demand

Stage 4: Production

Based on volume, the system routes to the appropriate tier:

Stage 5: Fulfillment

1. Post-processing bounties (finishing, QC)
2. Marketing bounties (photos, video)
3. Shipping bounties (packaging, delivery)
4. Legal/Accounting bounties (compliance, invoicing)

Bounty Categories

Every step is a bounty opportunity:

Design Battle Integration

When 2+ people sign up for the same bounty, it automatically becomes a Design Battle — a competitive contest where:

• All participants ante up (Credits, Marks, or Joules)
• Community votes on submissions
• Winner takes 50% of the pot
• Winner earns Crow Feathers (permanent achievement)

This creates healthy competition and ensures the best work rises to the top.

The Economics

For Creators

• 83.3% of every sale goes to the creator
• Platform takes 16.7% (Cost + 20% locked forever)
• No hidden fees, no percentage creep

For Node Operators

• 3/5 time: Work on assigned bounties (paid in Credits + Marks)
• 2/5 time: Work on your own projects using platform IP
• Equipment financing available through the platform

For Sponsors

• Own a piece of the patents that power The Factory
• 60% Platform / 20% Sponsors / 20% Founder split
• Sponsor tiers from $25 (Seedling) to $5,000 (Forest)

Every product has a “Blueprint Scroll” — a treasure-map style visualization of its manufacturing journey.

• 7 hexagonal islands with water-powered computing
• SLS printing (Formlabs) for small batches
• Desktop injection molding at NODEs for scale

What we learn building HexIsle becomes the template for every product that follows.
