The Story

The ideas behind Liana Banyan date back to 1978, in Africa, where a child read a book about an underwater kingdom protected by interlocking mangrove roots. That image—a magical kingdom held together by trees—became the organizing metaphor for everything that followed.

The Founder

Denken is the pseudonym of the founder, chosen to protect family privacy while maintaining transparency about the platform’s vision and values.

The name comes from the German word for “to think” - reflecting the decades of thought that went into the platform’s design.
